Guide
- Book your engagement session at least 6 months prior to your wedding date to ensure you are able to get photographs prior to your wedding!
- When looking for a location, pick a spot that is meaningful to you and your fiancé, that truly captures who you are as individuals (personality and style)
- Relax! Your engagement session is the time for you to get comfortable in front of the camera before your wedding. Its normal to feel awkward at first.
- Keep track of the sun in the sky. The best time for engagement sessions is when the sun is lower in the sky, either early morning or 2 hours before sunset.
- Solid colour outfits tend to look better than prints, which can be distracting and overwhelming. If you do go with a print, make sure it’s not too loud.
- Avoid tight fitting clothes that might highlight areas that you’d rather not have highlighted. Keep in mind comfort when moving from pose to pose (sitting & standing)
- Consider the weather! Make sure you’re prepared with a cute coat if it’s rainy or snowy!
- Do not match. Avoid wearing the same outfit (especially the classic white-t-shirt look). When outfits fully match they tend to blend together and look “as one” when posed closely together. Look like you are going to the same place, don’t dress like twins!
- Bring an emergency kit, with makeup, a brush, hairspray and a mirror to touch up your makeup as your shoot progresses. On windy days, this can really come in handy.
- A change of clothing/a second pair of shoes. If you would like to do a wardrobe change during your session you are more than welcome to.
- Make sure you have your engagement ring!
- Bring a bottle of sparkling wine/apple cider to pop off. This can add a little extra fun to your photos!

Things To Remember For Your
Wedding Day
If you also have film booked with us, we will need additional time between events to ensure we are set up and ready to go (30 minutes before the ceremony starts and 30 minutes prior to the start of the reception). During this time we are placing stationary cameras, setting up lighting and audio recording equipment to ensuring that everything is ready to go when you arrive.
During morning prep, please make sure to have all items you would like photographed/filmed in an easy to access location to allow for a quick transition through the day. This includes items such as rings, shoes, flowers etc. For the morning. Please make sure rings are with the Bride/Bridesmaids.
Be prepared for the weather. In the event of rain we do require you to either
a) have an indoor backup secured ahead of time or
b) ensure that you, along with all members of the bridal party have umbrellas
(we will shoot in the rain, but please note if the weather turns to be a downpour, we will use our expertise in determining if it is safe to continue to shoot in those conditions)
Bring comfortable shoes, snacks, water and make-up touch-up kits along with you to each location you will be shooting at.
If anyone in the bridal party turns red when drinking please try to limit the amount of alcohol consumption prior to the completion of the formal photographs. Red skin can be tricky and time consuming to edit in photos, and ultimately will result in longer wait times to receive your final product back.
Please make sure the room that you are getting ready in (if applicable) is tidy and free of clutter and mess. We do our best to utilize the best esthetically pleasing areas of your location, but an area free of clutter makes this process quick and easy.
If there are ANY changes in locations between sending the questionnaire and your wedding date please make sure to get the updated locations to us as soon as possible. We do require locations to be accurate and up to date in order to be able to photograph/film your wedding.
The Magic of Lighting
Lighting is one of the most important factors in capturing stunning wedding photos and films! Both photography and videography cameras need adequate light to create crisp, vibrant, and cinematic images. Natural light is ideal for outdoor ceremonies, while indoor spaces benefit from well-placed lighting.
If your venue is dimly lit—whether during the ceremony, reception, or dance floor—we’ve got you covered! We bring professional lighting to ensure your photos and videos look their absolute best, no matter the setting. For an extra touch of magic, consider adding candles, string lights, or uplighting to enhance the ambiance. Not sure what’s best? We’re happy to help you plan the perfect lighting setup for your big day!

The Ideal Wedding Photography Timeline
Every wedding is different so it is difficult to pinpoint an exact timeline template. With that said, there are ideal time frames you may want to consider when planning your wedding day. A few of these time frames might seem long on paper, however, your wedding day will fly by.
It is also important to keep in mind that weddings have hiccups. The hiccups will cause the wedding to run a little behind schedule. THIS IS NORMAL!
When you book your wedding with us, we will make sure that your time spent with us runs efficiently, on time, and above all else, FUN!
This guide to the Ideal Wedding Photography Timeline also applies to Videography, as we work as a tandem.
